How to Look After Your One Piece Cards
A card in perfect condition is worth twice as much as one with worn corners. Luckily, it is cheap to look after them.
Cards you play with
Use sleeves, i.e. plastic pockets for each card. Many people use two layers: a thin, tight-fitting one on the inside and a regular one on the outside. That way the cards do not wear down when you shuffle.
The expensive cards
- Toploader: a rigid plastic holder. Put the card in a thin sleeve first so it does not get scratched.
- Magnetic holder: a thick holder that closes with magnets. Perfect for displaying a nice card.
The collection
A binder with pockets (typically 9 per page) is the easiest way to see your collection. Choose pockets where the card slides in from the side, so it does not fall out. Sort by set so you can see what you are missing. Piratbinder shows you that too.
Avoid
- Rubber bands around stacks: they leave marks on the edges.
- Moisture and direct sunlight: the cards warp and fade.
- Loose cards in a bag: the corners turn white.
